As CEO of AARP, Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan leads the nation’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering people as they age. She oversees an enterprise supported by nearly 2,300 staff members, 60,000 volunteers, and a broad network of partners working to improve the lives of people age 50 and older.
Named CEO in November 2024, Dr. Minter-Jordan is a physician, advocate, and accomplished executive whose career has been defined by a commitment to improving health, expanding opportunity, and driving social impact through innovation and collaboration.
After beginning her career in academic medicine at Johns Hopkins, where she served as an attending physician and instructor, she joined the Dimock Center in Boston, one of the nation’s largest community health centers. As President and CEO from 2007 to 2019, she helped establish Dimock as a national model for integrated health and human services while expanding access to care for underserved communities through partnerships with leading healthcare institutions.
Most recently, Dr. Minter-Jordan served as President and CEO of the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, where she led efforts to advance a more accessible, equitable, and integrated healthcare system through innovation, research, and philanthropy.
Throughout her career, she has remained deeply committed to civic leadership and service. She has served on numerous corporate, nonprofit, and philanthropic boards and commissions and has received national recognition for her contributions to healthcare leadership and philanthropy.
Dr. Minter-Jordan earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University, her MD from the Brown University School of Medicine, and her MBA from the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University. She also holds honorary doctorates from Northeastern University and Newbury College.
