Rev. Dr. Michael A. Hunt, a unique blend of advocate, educator, and administrator hailing from Baltimore, is deeply committed to fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within institutional structures. He holds a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), and a Master of Divinity from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael's diverse career spans university and college administration, middle and high school math instruction, and musical vocalization. His dedication to social justice education and his role as a change catalyst, guiding students and institutions towards a more equitable and inclusive future, are well-known.
Michael's most significant role has been as the Director of the UMBC McNair Scholars Program, where he dedicates himself to increasing opportunities for underrepresented and underserved students to pursue research-based doctoral degrees. Also, Michael co-founded A&M Hunt Consulting, LLC with his wife, Ariel, where they work to transform institutions through holistic partnerships and DEI principles. They are both proud parents of Imani Brielle.
Michael obtained his Ph.D. at UMBC in the Language, Literacy, and Culture Program. Michael seeks to bridge the gap between spirituality and STEM education, offering culturally nuanced resources that promote self-esteem and holistic critical mentoring. With the belief that his living shall not be in vain, Michael is deeply committed to leaving a lasting, positive impact on the world.
