An alumnus of the Leadership Alliance (2017, 2018, 2019), Isaiah Swann is a third-year MD-PhD student at the University of Virginia. Previously, Isaiah studied neuroscience at the University of Texas at Dallas and played baseball for the Comets. Currently, he is a graduate student in the lab of Dr. Bettina Winckler; his project centers around the role of the intermediate filament protein peripherin in peripheral nerve development and regeneration. Isaiah co-founded the UVA chapter of Athletes in Medicine, participates on various UVA MSTP committees, and serves as one of three graduated student-athletes on the NCAA Board of Governors.
